Something Crafty

11 Oct

I recently embraced the trendiness of mason jars and got a little crafty. It took some trial & error, but I eventually got it right and was able to create some unique home decor on a budget to spruce up my apartment. I did my research, but every website seemed to have a different recommendation so I ultimately came up with my own solution. After trying a few different types of paint, the one that worked for me was ACE’s Paint Pod.

  • I added a glob of modgepodge to the paint to create more of an adesive.
  • Plop in a good amount of paint so it flows easily and covers the entire inside of the jar.
  • Rotate the jar so the paint covers the entire interior of the jar
  • Be sure to let the paint drip back into the container so you can salvage the access!

Although you cannot put water directly inside the jar because of the paint, you can place a small dixie cup inside in order to hold your flowers and water. Not only do I recommend playing with shades of the same color, but also with stenciling.

I paid tribute to Chip by stenciling a frenchie and painting the outside of one of my jars. Use your jars as vases, storage or just as decor.

Great idea!! I love that shade of green. Is that the name of the green shade (Paint Pod) or just the type of paint at ACE? I am not crafty at all, but this is something that I might try 🙂

Jars looking great! I want to try to do it this year as I have lots of useless jars in my cellar. I was ready to bin them all but one day came across to this idea on some other website. My 2013 Rresolution special “Craft” list 🙂

These are so cute! I wanted to come and check out your blog in return for the follow and I am glad. What fab ideas… I love the green as well. Reminds me of Farrow and Ball’s ‘Arsenic’ (http://www.farrow-ball.com/arsenic/colours/fcp-product/100214) – a great name for paint and a gorgeous colour.
